Unlike written tests, Skill Boss requires learners to actually install, adjust, and troubleshoot components on a fully functional working system, producing observable, measurable results that reflect true job readiness.

The Skill Boss Manufacturing system fits onto a standard tabletop and features an electric motor, variable frequency drive, human-machine interface, pneumatic pick-and-place module, and quality testing and sorting functionality. It evaluates more than 60 essential manufacturing skills across electronic, electrical, fluid power, and mechanical systems. Skill Boss Manufacturing is the only approved hands-on assessment device for the Manufacturing Skill Standards Council's Certified Production Technician Plus (CPT+) certification, the nationally recognized industry credential for advanced manufacturing workers. The Skill Boss Logistics system is a working automated distribution system that performs real-world operations including package tracking, automatic package queuing and priority release, and electro-pneumatic sorting. It evaluates 100 essential hands-on skills in supply chain automation and is the required assessment device for three of MSSC's Certified Technician Supply Chain Automation (CT-SCA) certifications: Equipment Maintenance, Equipment Repair, and Network Repair.
