E-Mobility Product by Legacy EV

Electric vehicles are no longer an emerging technology — they are the direction the entire automotive and transportation industry is moving. High school students entering the workforce or pursuing post-secondary education over the next several years will encounter EV technology in virtually every technical career they consider. Programs that give students real, hands-on EV experience now are giving them a meaningful competitive advantage. The Legacy EV Intro to E-Mobility course does exactly that, putting students inside a real electric powertrain and teaching them how it works by having them build, wire, program, and tune it themselves.

Klein Educational supplies the Legacy EV Intro to E-Mobility program to high school CTE programs, automotive technology pathways, and K-12 districts across the United States. We help programs build the right EV training environment for their curriculum and student population.

About Intro to E-Mobility

Intro to E-Mobility is a high school course designed around one central project — building, testing, and tuning an electric powertrain using a TopKart MSTEM3 electric go-kart equipped with a Legacy EV custom lithium-ion battery pack. Students learn about EV components, wiring, programming, and high-voltage safety as they work through 18 project-based learning lessons that take them from fundamentals through a fully operational vehicle.

The program is structured as a complete bundle. The instructional aid includes the MSTEM3 electric go-kart with a 48V powertrain, a custom Legacy EV lithium-ion battery pack, a programmable controller, and swappable sprockets for performance tuning. Turnkey curriculum includes 18 project-based lessons, Level 1 High Voltage Safety Training, instructor overviews, student handouts, skills matrices, rubrics, and wiring diagrams and installation guides. Instructor training includes six online learning modules, a five-day in-person EV Fundamentals Bootcamp, and more than 200 pages of reference materials.

What students learn

Intro to E-Mobility is built around four core learning outcomes that develop both technical skills and analytical thinking. Students analyze torque, power, and energy to understand their impact on electric go-kart performance. They interpret wiring schematics to effectively install components in an electric powertrain. They use the scientific method to systematically test and tune the powertrain to optimized performance. And they conduct technical inspections on the electric powertrain, documenting findings and demonstrating understanding of the basic maintenance requirements for electric vehicle operation.

These outcomes give students a genuine foundation in EV technology that connects directly to post-secondary automotive programs, EV technician certification pathways, and emerging technical career opportunities across transportation and manufacturing.

Why Intro to E-Mobility

The program prepares students for high-demand e-mobility careers by building technical skills through real-world applications rather than simulations or theory-only instruction. High-voltage safety training and industry-relevant content give students credentials and experience that stand out in post-secondary applications and early career opportunities. For programs looking to modernize their automotive or CTE offerings and align with where industry is going, Intro to E-Mobility provides a complete, proven solution.
