The 850-AEC Alternative Energy Learning System teaches students key skills needed for job success in small wind alternative energy and solar energy. Students will receive hands-on alternative energy training and skills they can use on the job. Critical skill areas covered are system connection, operation, and programming of solar PV (photovoltaic) and small wind systems in commercial and residential applications.
95-STS1 Solar Thermal Sun Simulator
The 95-STS1 provides the heat energy needed to simulate the sun’s solar energy when the solar thermal installation system is being used indoors. Amatrol offers an optional sun simulator, the 95-STS1, for use indoors with the 950-STCL1 and the 950-STOL1. This simulator provides thermal energy to simulate solar thermal power for commercial and residential systems.
The 950-SPF1 Solar Photovoltaic Installation Learning System teaches students the installation and commissioning of grid interactive and stand-alone photovoltaic systems for commercial and residential applications. Students will learn how to develop and implement a site layout; calculate PV circuit voltage and currents; select and install wiring; and install real world components in PV systems, just as they would do on the job.
Solar PV troubleshooting teaches installation and maintenance of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems across the types of PV systems commonly used such as AC, DC, and grid-tie. Learners develop the specialized skills and knowledge needed for solar PV systems, including connection and operation of the many types of solar PV systems, programming or configuring inverters and charge controllers, sizing systems and components, analyzing performance, and troubleshooting problems system wide. It supports the knowledge needed for the NABCEP (North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners) test for certified solar PV system installer.
Solar thermal troubleshooting for closed-loop systems teaches skills and knowledge needed for working with the two common types of thermal closed-loop systems: drainback and pressurized. It emphasizes connection, operation, programming, and troubleshooting problems of both drainback and pressurized systems, supporting the knowledge needed for the NABCEP (North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners) test for certified solar thermal system installer.
Solar thermal troubleshooting for open-loop systems teaches skills and knowledge needed for working with open-loop system configurations and situations. It emphasizes connection, programming, and troubleshooting problems system wide, supporting the knowledge needed for the NABCEP (North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners) test for certified solar thermal system installer. It covers collectors, open-loop thermal systems, output measurement, solar collector specifications, pumps and more.
Amatrol’s 950-GEO1 Geothermal Learning System with Desuperheater enables learners to understand and apply their newly obtained skills in the ever-growing area of geothermal energy. This system builds knowledge as well as skills across a broad spectrum, ranging from system startup and operation to shut down and maintenance, in a readily accessible, compact vertical trainer.
The 950-GEO2 uses an exposed component layout so that learners can see each component’s role in a geothermal system. Learners can easily observe, monitor, and test each component mounted and labeled on a vertical panel. Sight glasses installed in the 950-GEO2 allow the learner to see the refrigerant’s changing state as it passes through the system. Amatrol also includes pressure and temperature gauges at key points to show the system’s performance at a glance.
